Christmas is a major event in many nations across the world, including places where the majority of the population is non-Christian. Undoubtedly, it is a family holiday, which unites all the relatives at one table. The “Bank of Memories” is primarily concerned with keeping family ties, gathering knowledge about relatives, and forming a close network among relatives. New Zealand. Because summer in New Zealand coincides with Christmas, many of their traditions revolve around gathering around a barbie, or grill, where families and friends can enjoy a casual cookout of fresh seafood, meat, and seasonal vegetables.

Norway. The Christmas season in Norway, known as “julebord” begins on December 3 and lasts until the end of the month, when local taverns and restaurants are packed. On December 23, families celebrate Little Christmas, with each having its unique traditions, such as decorating the tree, constructing a gingerbread house.

Austria. On December 6, a devil-like monster known as Krampus is said to join the festivities in Alpine nations such as Austria. Children are instructed to make a list of their good and negative acts, which includes: sweets, apples, and nuts are given to good children, while naughty children are concerned about what Krampus would bring on Christmas morning.

Ireland. For the holiday season, the Irish put a tall red candle in a front window overnight as a welcoming symbol of warmth and shelter. Homemade roast goose, veggies, cranberries, and potatoes are common Christmas cuisine in Ireland.
