Data privacy concerns
With the increasing amount of information being processed in the network, people are demonstrating more and more concerns about data privacy issues. Corporations and even governments monitor the information provided.
We have examined several studies about data privacy concerns worldwide and found a lot of interesting stuff.
A study by the Pew Research Center found that 62% of Americans believe it is impossible to work every day without giving some data to web companies. These companies usually have an incentive to monetize given information, use it for an advertisement, upraging products and optimizing working processes.
At the same time, 81% of Americans state that they feel they have a little control over their collected data and the same amount of survey participants think that the risks of collecting data outweigh the benefits. Also 76% of them notice that their social activity is being tracked by advertising companies.
Pew Research Center found out that it is extremely important for 74% of survey participants to know who tracks their private information in the Internet.
Statista has recently conducted interesting research and revealed a share of internet users who look for better ways to protect their privacy. You can see that the value fluctuates from 55% to 78%. As you can see, the users are really concerned about data privacy issues, especially from the USA and India.
We are convinced that decentralized storage is the cornerstone to satisfy people’s privacy needs in the whole decentralized web environment. Decentralization is a future; we should allow everybody to have a right to feel secure on the web.
