Films about memories
Any film genre may be elevated to new heights by memory loss and mental manipulation. We have prepared some of the more effective instances.
💥The Father 2000. The elderly father suffers from dementia and frequently loses track of his family and surroundings. He even feels his daughter is an impostor at one point, which filmmaker Florian Zeller depicts on screen in a unique way. Unsettling settings and story flaws make viewers dizzy, offering us a taste of the horrors that dementia delivers. The Father’s cinematography plays on your mind, placing you in the shoes of protagonist Anthony, which is wonderful (and shaky) (played by Anthony Hopkins).
💥The girl on the Train. 2016. The main character — Rachel Watson (Emily Blunt), unbeknownst to her roommate, drinks on her plastic bottle of vodka every day while mindlessly riding trains instead of going to work. She spots a girl disappearing from one of the trackside cottages one day. Rachel Watson’s evidence is disregarded due to her unreliable memory, so she investigates herself — and becomes obsessed with solving the case, neglecting her own inner issues. Tate Taylor’s psychological thriller was praised for its outstanding performances and brutal premise, based on Paula Hawkins’ 2015 first novel.
💥Still Alice. 2014 .Alice’s life is turned upside-down as her memories (her life, her identity) begin to disappear at the age of 50. Still Alice delicately describes a terrifying event for every individual: she left her phone in the freezer and doesn’t recognize her own family. “Still Alice” is a wonderfully narrated and flawlessly acted play based on Lisa Genova’s popular 2007 novel.
Have you ever watched these films? Never! Rush, they won’t leave you cold.
