Have you ever noticed that your and your father’s fears are similar? Have you ever thought about why you hated some smells from early childhood? Have you ever thought about why we always want to examine our past? This article will definitely surprise you, we will tell you how memories can pass through generations.

Based on the scientific approach we examined why people care a lot about saving information and how memories influence our today’s life and future. BBC research found the linkage between our fears, phobias and memories.

A Nature Neuroscience study wanted to examine a phenomenon of genetic memory and conducted several experiments to prove the assumptions. Scholars trained mice to fear a smell like cherry blossom. Then they examined animals’ sperm and found out that DNA, which is responsible for sensitivity to smells, was more active than before. The next research determined that mice’s offspring were extremely sensitive to the smell of cherry blossom, despite not having experienced it.

One of the scientists — Professor Marcus Pembrey stated that the study’s results were also relevant to humans, and we do have so called “transgenerational epigenetic inheritance”. It means that events happened in previous generations can pass through a form of genetic memory and, therefore, affect our behavior.

So, the only conclusion can be made. If you want to know yourself better, examine your past, life your ancestors lead, their habits and values. This is a key to make yourself better and get rid of several fears and phobias after realizing its origin.
