Preserve cultural inheritance

Bank of Memories provides an ability to save information, which can be lost easily. War in Ukraine caused numerous damage to industrial and civil buildings building. Ukraine’s cultural heritage is also under threat. Important ethnic institutions were destroyed.

Slovo Building was situated in Kharkiv. In 1930th it was the place, where Ukrainian artists and ideologist lived. They fought for country’s independence and made an enormous contribution to the cultural development of Ukraine. Slovo Building was the symbol of “Executed Renaissance”, that means inviolability of the nation. Unfortunately, this cultural institution was destroyed by occupants.

Mariupol Drama Theatre was built in 1847. It was the place whereUkrainian drama culture started its development. The Mariupol Drama Theatre was one of the most favorite sights among citizens and tourists. On 16th of March 2022 the building was bombed and destroyed during Russian invasion to Ukraine.

Vasyl Tarnovsky Museum of Ukrainian Antiquities was founded in 1897 and represented the remains of ancient Ukrainian culture; approximately, 160 thousand artifacts were placed there. Now, starting from 18th of March 2022, the building does not exist.

During the invasion in Ukraine, we need to do our best to preserve cultural heritage. Maybe, not everything can be saved from bombs, but we are able to make a digital copy of ancient buildings and view it using augmented reality (AR) in the Bank of Memories app. Let’s preserve Ukraine’s cultural heritage.
