How was the godsend found? On Monday, 27th December 2021 workers, excavating the pedestal of a Confederate commander statue, uncovered a copper box thought to have been buried 130 years ago, the site’s second apparent time capsule. A time capsule concealed in the base of the statue of General Robert E. Lee, who commanded the Army of Northern Virginia during the Civil War, was made in 1887, according to a newspaper report of that time.

What was inside the capsule? A Confederate flag thought to have been constructed from the tree that grew over the legendary rebel General Stonewall Jackson’s original burial, Miniè balls — a sort of bullet used in the Civil War — and a map of the city of Richmond were among the items in the capsule. According to historical sources, the capsule may contain a rare photograph of President Abraham Lincoln, who died in 1865.

The found artifact is believed to reveal lots of history puzzles, but before the great amount of work is needed to be done, as the materials inside the box were damaged. Fortunately, we don`t need to create any time capsules, as ae are able to store information owing to the “Bank of Memories ” app.
